Take 2 is a word game that is similar to a well known board game, but it is played without a board. This makes it faster, and a lot more unstructured and versatile. It can be played on any flat surface and so it is ideal to take on holidays. It all packs away into a small, compact box.
Play it with your family and friends or you can race yourself against the clock. See if you are first to 'Take 2', get rid of all your tiles and win. This fast paced game is all about quick thinking and speed. You don't have to wait for your turn to come around, so it is fast and furious and a lot of fun.
The game developer is Martin Rodenberg. He is a builder by trade. Martin's wife is a school teacher and she introduced the game to her class as an educational tool.
When it was delivered to my house, my four children immediately took it and disappeared into a bedroom. Judging by the shrieks and giggles there was a lot of fun being had by all. I had to remove my 2 year old Joshua after a while, much to his displeasure, he was being a bit disruptive to game play and might be a little young for this one.
But this game is not just for children. Adults can have a lot of fun too. It is a great after dinner game.
The rules of the game are simple.
- First pick 8 letter tiles;
- As quickly as possible make words in a crossword fashion;
- Then first person to use all their tiles shouts out "Take 2". All players then take another 2 tiles;
- The game continues until all tiles are used. The first player to do this shouts "Finished" and this is the end of Round 1.
The winner is the person with the lowest score.
Visit the Take 2 website here. You can even play a virtual game of Take2 there.
The game is available to buy online or at selected stockists. The cost is $30.00 + postage and handling, to anywhere in the world.
