A Dream at 2:00am

Two wild horses galloping about.

Two robbers creeping when the lights are out.

Two puppies waiting ready for a game.

Two raindrops trickling down my window pain.

Two trees growing, trying to touch the sky.

Two people parted, trying not to cry.

Two ducklings waddling down to have a swim.

Two old men sharing a bottle of gin.

Two flies buzzing, trying to be a pest.

Two kittens, tired out having a bit of rest.

Two people hurrying, trying to catch a plane.

With bread and cheese for supper,

I could dream it all again.

I wrote this poem way back in 1981 when I was twelve years old.

The above free image is from and I have pinned it on my Amazing Animals Pinterest board. If you would like an invite to Pinterest please send me an email and I can invite you.

  1. Loved this :) Great poem - and the fact that you wrote it at twelve is quite impressive!
